🔥 Embers — Privacy Policy Last updated: 29 June 2026 Embers is a renewal-tracking app for things like passports, MOT certificates, insurance, and warranties. This page explains what information the app uses and how it's handled. The short version Embers stores everything you enter — renewal titles, dates, costs, and notes — locally on your own device. We don't run our own servers that store your renewal data, and we don't sell your information to anyone. What information Embers accesses Renewal data you enter (titles, categories, dates, costs, notes) — stored only on your device, never sent to us. Camera and photo library — used only if you choose to scan a document to detect an expiry date automatically. Photos you scan are processed on your device using on-device text recognition (Google ML Kit) and are not uploaded anywhere or stored by us. Notification permission — used to remind you about upcoming renewals. Reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. Purchase information — if you buy Embers Plus, the purchase is handled directly by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made, but we do not receive or store your payment details (card numbers, etc.) — that's handled entirely by Apple/Google. What we don't do We don't require you to create an account or log in. We don't access your contacts, location, or other apps. We don't share, sell, or rent your data to third parties. We don't track you across other apps or websites. Data storage and deletion Your renewal data is stored locally on your device using standard local app storage. If you uninstall the app, this data is permanently deleted along with it — there is currently no cloud backup or account-based recovery. We'd recommend keeping a separate note of any critical dates if you're concerned about device loss, until a backup feature is available. How to delete your data Because Embers has no account system and stores everything locally on your device, you are always in full control of your data: To delete a single renewal: open the app, tap the renewal you want to remove, and choose Delete. To delete all your data at once: uninstall the app from your device. This permanently and immediately removes all renewal data, since nothing is stored anywhere else. There is no separate request process or waiting period — deletion happens instantly, on your device, under your control. If you have any trouble or questions about this, contact us at jameshibbertcfc@gmail.com. Third-party services this app uses Google ML Kit (on-device text recognition) — processes scanned document images entirely on your device for date detection; images are not uploaded to Google or to us. Apple App Store / Google Play Billing — handles all in-app purchases. See Apple's and Google's own privacy policies for how they handle purchase data. Children's privacy Embers is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children. Changes to this policy If this policy changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
